Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum 2018

On 14-16 June 2018 the annual Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum organized by New Strategy Center was held in the Romanian port city of Constanta. Director of World Experience for Georgia (WEG) was one of the participants and speakers of the forum. 

The event aims to provide a platform for informed debate among officials, analysts, representatives of non-governmental organizations and international experts on the topical issues of the region.

Main focus of the forum was present security environment in the Black Sea and the Balkans. Murman Margvelashvili gave a speech about the main challenges of energy security in Georgia and Caucasus region. 

To increase awareness about the importance of peace and stability in the two regions, identify the actual security challenges, explore imaginative, rational and realistic solutions, foster active contacts and networking among decision makers, security analysts, academics, the civil society and the media were the main objectives of the debates. 

The first Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum in 2017 was organized by Ovidius University in Constanta, Constanta Metropolitan Area and the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, where WEG was represented by Natalia Shatirishvili, lead Researcher, who discussed the main energy security threats from Georgia’s perspective.
