Development of Measures for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Use in Multi-apartment Residential Buildings

Under a subcontract with Winrock International, in the framework of NATELI project and under USAID funding, WEG developed the measures for energy efficiency and renewable energy use in two residential buildings that represent major types of multi-apartment block buildings in Tbilisi. The main goal of the project was to prepare the project design and proposal for building thermal insulation, solar energy use for hot water and improved system for use of geothermal hot water. The project investigated also other measures to reduce energy consumption in apartments. The recommendations, design and organizational proposals were presented to residents of the selected buildings, municipality and industry representatives at the discussion workshop. The project results will be useful for further application of energy efficiency measures and use of solar and geothermal energy in multi-apartment residential buildings, through cooperation with Condominium Associations (CA), Tbilisi Municipality and Energy Service Companies  (ESCOs).
