Green City Action Plan (GCAP) for Batumi. Final Presentation

On November 12, the final presentation of Batumi Green City Action Plan (GCAP) was held at Radisson Blu Batumi Hotel. The Batumi Green City Action Plan aims to identify the challenges of environmental protection and sustainability of the city, identify priorities and develop ways of intervention. The project envisaged the preparation of a Policy Framework Report, a Technical Assessment Report and organisation of consultations with representatives of different sectors. Also, round table discussion were held with representatives of private, civil society, non-governmental and public organizations on the priority challenges of the city. GCAP vision, proposed projects to support the city's green development, and action plan that included challenges and opportunities for urban environmental issues were developed in collaboration with Batumi City Hall and other key stakeholders.

The final presentation was attended by the Mayor of Batumi Lasha Komakhidze, EBRD Caucasus Regional Director Katarina Björlin Hansen, representatives of EBRD, Batumi City Hall and City Council, various public agencies and NGOs. The project is implemented by the international consulting firm AECOM supported by WEG with the financial support provided by EBRD.
