Natalia Shatirishvili

Natalia earned her Master’s degree in Economics at International School of Economics at TSU where she focused on Energy Economics concentration. Her Master Thesis was devoted to analysis of development of Georgian Hydroelectric Power Sector in terms of different economic projections. Natalia is certified Public Policy Analyst and does policy research and analysis. She writes policy research papers and articles.

Natalia has been working at WEG since 2009. Her expertise includes but not limited to: energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, energy planning, sustainable energy development, climate change mitigation, data analysis, policy research, and others. She has been working on development of MARKAL-Georgia long term energy planning model since 2010. As a lead modeler she was involved in capacity building of Analytical department of Ministry of Energy. She was also responsible for MARKAL-Georgia model improvement and scenarios development for future use by the Ministry.

Natalia was actively involved in mitigation technology identification and prioritization for Georgia, market mapping process for selected technologies, LPA, development of Action Plan and preparation of country’s official TNA report.  

Apart from being part of WEG’s research team Natalia occasionally acts as an independent consultant.

For the period 2010-2013 she worked at electricity Distribution Company “Telasi” in division of relations with GNERC where she was responsible for preparation of quarter and annual statistical reports, data analysis and relations with national energy regulatory commission (GNERC).

She is author of several policy and research papers and regularly shares her knowledge and experience at local and international conferences.

Since March 2016 Natalia is National Contact Point of Horizon 2020 in secure, clean and efficient energy.
